CMF, a sub-brand of Nothing based in London, has introduced the CMF Phone 1, a modular Android smartphone with a starting price of $199. The phone is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset and a 6.67-inch FHD, 120Hz AMOLED display. It features a 50MP Sony camera on the back with a secondary depth sensor for portraits, and a 16MP front camera.

The CMF Phone 1 is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery, providing up to two days of usage on a single charge. The base model includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Additional features include support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and 9-band Dual 5G. However, some compromises come with the budget price: the phone lacks NFC, is only splash-resistant, and does not support wireless charging.

Users can customize the phone with interchangeable backplates and accessories using a provided flathead screwdriver. Available backplate colors include black, orange, blue, and light green, priced at $35 each, along with a color-matched SIM tray.

The phone supports optional accessories that can be mounted using a screw-based dial, such as a kickstand, a MagSafe-style wallet case, and a lanyard, each costing $25. Alongside the phone, CMF is releasing new wireless earbuds, the CMF Buds Pro 2, and a smartwatch, the CMF Watch Pro 2.

The CMF Phone 1 is launching in the UK and EU this week, with a US release planned for later in July under a "Beta Program," suggesting high demand and potential wait times. The phone is priced at $199 in the US.
