YouTube has introduced new features for its Premium subscribers, including Jump Ahead and Shorts Picture-in-Picture.

The Jump Ahead feature allows users to skip directly to the most-viewed parts of a video. By double-tapping, a “Jump Ahead” button appears in the bottom-right corner of the player. Tapping this button takes you past sections that are often skipped, using AI and viewership data to determine these segments. Currently, Jump Ahead is available for YouTube Premium subscribers in the US on Android devices, with iOS support coming soon.

YouTube Shorts now supports Picture-in-Picture on Android. This enables users to watch Shorts while multitasking with other apps. The feature allows the video window to be resized, with controls for play/pause and navigating to the next or previous Short.

YouTube is also testing several new features. Smart Downloads for Shorts will automatically download a selection of Shorts to your device for offline viewing. The "Ask" experiment on YouTube.com/new lets users ask questions about a video and receive suggestions. There is also a Redesigned Watch Page experiment aimed at improving the viewing experience and making it easier to find related content and engage with comments.

These new features add to the existing YouTube Premium benefits, which include ad-free viewing, offline downloads, enhanced 1080p quality, SharePlay on iOS and more.
