Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 6 at its Unpacked event. This new book-style foldable device brings some of the most significant updates since the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold.

One of the notable changes in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the updated aspect ratio of its display. The outer display is now slightly wider. The new outer display features an aspect ratio of 22.1:9. The inner display of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is also slightly wider, boasting an aspect ratio of 20.9:18. Samsung has made the Fold 6 thinner, with folded dimensions of 68.1 x 153.5 x 12.1mm and unfolded dimensions of 132.6 x 153.5 x 5.6mm. The device weighs 239 grams, making it about 6% lighter than its predecessor, the Fold 5.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 comes with 12GB of RAM and offers storage options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. Samsung has incorporated a larger vapor chamber for improved cooling and claims that the display can reach a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The camera setup remains the same as the Fold 5, with a 50MP primary camera, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto, 10MP selfie camera, and a 4MP under-display camera. The battery capacity also remains unchanged at 4,400 mAh.

One hardware improvement is the upgraded IP48 rating, which offers better protection compared to the IPX8 rating of previous generations. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will feature many of the Galaxy AI capabilities introduced with the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year. Unique to Samsung's new foldables is the ability to display translations on the outer screen. The S Pen experience on the Fold 6 will integrate with Galaxy AI features, allowing for Smart Select and “Sketch to image” functionality, which uses generative AI to create images from rough sketches. Google Gemini will also be more deeply integrated, offering multi-window support.

It will be available in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, with exclusive Craft Black and Purity White options available on Samsung's website. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be officially released on July 24, with pre-orders starting today at a price of $1,899.
