Sony has officially announced the PlayStation 5 Pro, putting an end to months of speculation and rumors. This mid-generation refresh brings notable upgrades over the original PS5, focusing on better performance and visuals. The PS5 Pro will be available starting November 7, with a price tag of $699.99 in the U.S., £699.99 in the U.K.. Pre-orders are set to begin on September 26.

The PS5 Pro retains a similar design to the original PS5 released in 2020, but the real improvements lie under the hood. The GPU has been significantly upgraded, offering 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory, resulting in roughly 45% faster rendering on average. This allows for more visually impressive and fluid gameplay. The internal storage also has been doubled to 2TB, providing more space for games and media.

One of the standout features of the PS5 Pro is the introduction of advanced ray tracing technology, enhancing the realism of in-game environments. Alongside this, Sony has introduced a new system called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-powered feature designed to improve clarity and detail in complex game scenes. The console also includes PS5 Pro Game Boost, a feature that optimizes performance across thousands of existing games, ensuring smoother gameplay and better overall performance.

The PS5 Pro is fully compatible with all current PS5 accessories, including PlayStation VR2, DualSense Edge, the PlayStation Portal, and accessories like the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore.

Sony is positioning this console as the most visually powerful way to experience games, offering players a more immersive and detailed gaming experience.
