SpaceX has begun offering a new Starlink kit to select users, designed to be portable enough to fit in a backpack. This new version, called the Starlink Mini, allows users to access the company's satellite internet service on the go. The Starlink Mini kit is priced at $599, which is $100 more than the standard dish kit. However, users need to have an existing standard service plan, as the Mini Roam service is an additional $30 per month. Therefore, a Starlink residential customer would pay a total of $150 per month if they opt for the Mini.

SpaceX has indicated that the price of the smaller dish may decrease in the future. The company is working towards making Starlink more affordable and is currently offering a limited number of Mini kits in areas with high usage. The Starlink Mini dish features a built-in Wi-Fi router, making it more compact and requiring fewer components to access the internet. It also consumes less power, has a DC power input, and can achieve download speeds over 100 Mbps. The kit includes the dish, a kickstand, a pipe adapter, a power supply, and a cord with a USB-C connector and a barrel jack.

Currently, the Starlink Mini is being rolled out to select high-usage areas. However, Michael Nicolls, VP of Starlink Engineering, mentioned on X that production of the Mini is being increased and it will soon be available in international markets.
