Yelp has introduced several innovative AI-driven features lately, including the all new Yelp Assistant which is designed to streamline the process of finding the right contractors or service providers. The tool aims to guide users directly to specialists suited for their specific needs without manual searches.

Yelp describes the Assistant as a tool that removes the uncertainty of determining the necessary specialists for a project. Users interact with the Assistant by describing their project needs, and then responding using either typed replies or selecting from a range of predefined, one-click responses. For example, if a user indicates a need to replace a bathtub, Yelp Assistant offers a variety of bathtub options to choose from, which then allows Yelp to generate a tailored list of qualified service providers.

This functionality leverages a comprehensive language model, trained using Yelp's extensive database of provider information and its "Request a Quote" feature, along with technology from OpenAI. Currently, Yelp Assistant is only available to iOS users through the Projects tab, with plans to extend to Android users by the end of the summer.

Yelp has also launched the Yelp Fusion AI API, allowing third-party partners to develop their own conversational AI applications. Yelp has enhanced its Yelp Guest Manager with new capabilities that assist restaurants in managing server shifts, monitoring table statuses in real time, and automating credit card holds for reservations.
